Benson couple find it tough to leave historic 'twin' house

Twin houses.

The twin houses in the Bensonhurst neighborhood on 58th Street north of Northwest Radial Highway were built for two sisters in the early 1900s.

Benson floors

Jessica and Jimmy refinished the wood floors on the second floor but those on the main level were in good shape.

The home has about 1,960 square feet.

This room makes Jessica think of a sun porch, which she'll have in her new home in Boston.

The house is so special, the Lees never thought they would move.

The backyard contains a large garden.

They replaced the tile in the foyer.

The family enjoys sitting on the big porch watching the neighborhood kids play.

Their chickens had plenty of room to roam in the backyard.

There is no fireplace in the house but the Lees knew there was brick behind this wall. It took so long to do they didn't expose a similar brick wall in the kitchen.

The wallpaper is recreated from the work of a French artist.
