Attended by nearly 1,000 people, the event featured soups from 15 Lincoln restaurants and raised $100,000, which will be turned into $570,000 worth of food distributed to feed the hungry, according to John Mabry, development director at the Food Bank of Lincoln. Fireworks’ Shrimp and Corn Chowder was this year’s winning soup. Top sponsors were Rogers Foundation, Pioneer and BNSF Railway Foundation. Down Under Pottery has produced and donated 10,100 bowls for the event since it started in 2003, helping to raise about $675,000.
