Lincoln collector's vintage Star Wars toys and collectibles

While I was over at Toys From the Past this week talking to owner Mike Bretta about he and John Chism renting out showings of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" on premier night, we also talked about toys, obviously. Bretta said about 30 percent of his sales these days are Star Wars-related items. And people keep digging out vintage toys from their basements and selling them to Bretta.
"All of this pretty much walked through the door," he said.

Vintage Star Wars toys
This picture does not do this original 1978 Death Star playset (with original packaging) much justice. Bretta said it was one of the first toys Kenner released. Starwars.com says this originally retailed for about $18. You can find some on eBay in the $250 range. This one at Toys From the Past is going for $199.

Here's a vintage AT-AT Walker, as introduced in "The Empire Strikes Back." There's a $79.99 price sticker on this guy's head.
Vintage Star Wars toys
There are quite a few beaters over at Toys From the Past, as it turns out.
Vintage Star Wars toys
"We call them beaters," Mike Bretta, who runs Toys From the Past, said of this bin. Each of these cost $4, and Bretta said most collectors who dip into this pile clean out the Stormtroopers or X-wing starfighters to build armies of them.

This isn't a toy, per se, but it's pretty interesting nonetheless. It's an original "Star Wars" poster from 1977. Bretta said the seller brought it in the weekend before "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" premiered. "A lot of stuff has been coming through the doors," he said. The framed poster is going for $79.99.
Vintage Star Wars toys
While I'm not all that knowledgeable regarding the "Star Wars" franchise, I do appreciate some quality van art. This sweet Vader van, $24.99, was my personal favorite offering in this particular empire.
