Why are you running and what do you want to accomplish?
Strong partnerships between visionary business leaders, a fiscally responsible City Hall and committed citizens have played a key role in making Lincoln’s trajectory of growth and success possible. Using my experience as a Planning Commissioner, business and budget analyst and nonprofit board member, I will build on that success by working to ensure Lincoln has safe and vibrant neighborhoods, thriving families, great jobs and economic opportunity. To accomplish this, I plan to:
* Work with city departments and community stakeholders to ensure excellent police and fire protection, address problem properties, repair sidewalks and repave local streets. We should protect parks, pools, trails and libraries that make our neighborhoods wonderful places to live;
* Help build a community where children succeed and families thrive. I support Community Learning Centers. Families in need must have access to the resources that build their capacity to improve their lives; and
* Support investment in infrastructure and technology that build a city where businesses want to locate and grow. Lincoln must continue to build the downtown and Haymarket areas to support our unique local businesses and encourage tourism. We should strengthen and expand our partnerships with UNL and the Innovation Campus to create high-paying jobs.

Why are you running and what do you want to accomplish?
I am running for re-election to continue the work that has made Lincoln a nationally ranked city for jobs, economic development and quality of life. My vision for Lincoln is in distinct contrast to those special interests that care more about their agenda than the public good.
Hundreds of millions of dollars invested in public-private partnerships during my tenure on council have created new jobs and new opportunities. My development and planning background has contributed to these successes. My plan to move a Parks and Recreation facility and partner with Windstream has resulted in a new $30 million project at 21st and N streets.
I have protected our parks, pools, libraries and public safety services from special interest groups who believe that budget shortfalls should be solved by cuts alone. The result has been one of the lowest crime rates in the nation, strong neighborhoods and protection of services that keep kids in positive activities and out of trouble.
I have accomplished this while working in the private sector to turn dilapidated areas into new vibrant neighborhoods, like the housing project near Peter Pan Park that started as a rundown industrial site and now is providing families new homes.

Lincoln has been a wonderful place for my wife and I to raise our family. We have set our roots down here. Lincoln is moving in an exciting direction and I want to see that continue. I want to give back to this community and help make this a growing, vibrant town with good jobs and safe neighborhoods for all our children and grandchildren. Efficient spending by the city and low taxes will help continue to make the opportunity for good living our legacy.

How would you like to do more things for yourself? That means responsibility. That may mean disagreement with others.
When you do things for yourself, responsibly, the city gets better. At times like that, we need less government, therefore lower taxes.

Why are you running and what do you want to accomplish?
I'm running because I have a passion for public service and the experience in both government and the private sector to be an effective leader on the City Council. I'm excited about Lincoln's growth, but while we have much to celebrate about our community, there is still work to be done. Lincoln needs a strong voice on the council to keep taxes low, support small businesses and help make Lincoln a place our young people want to put down roots. I will support policies that create quality jobs, maintain our high quality of life and attract the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders to our community.
In addition, I'll protect taxpayers by keeping taxes low, and ensure we invest in development and maintenance of our city's infrastructure as our city grows.

Why are you running and what do you want to accomplish?
After graduating law school in 2011, I wanted to utilize my education to work on behalf of vulnerable populations. Starting my own firm ensured that I would have the opportunity to represent people who do not have the means to advocate for themselves and their families. I represent survivors of domestic violence and protect vulnerable youth and adults.
As a mentor with LPS and a member of Community Action's Head Start Policy Council, I work to help the lives of disadvantaged children flourish. I am also a member of Community Action's Board of Directors, because I believe deeply in this agency’s mission to empower struggling families. As the attorney for Outlinc’s In the Name of Love Project, I perform name changes at no cost for same-sex couples who have nowhere else to turn.
Lincoln has a record of enacting policies that foster sustainability. I will do my utmost to ensure that growth in our city continues on this path.
If elected to Lincoln City Council, I will advocate for policies that strengthen all of Lincoln, particularly those neighborhoods and residents who need a louder voice in our local government. I will work tirelessly to lead and better our city.

Why are you running and what do you want to accomplish?
I will bring a small business approach that is lacking on the City Council. Lincoln should welcome small businesses and help them create jobs and economic opportunity.
In addition to my business perspective I have enjoyed making a difference in environmental issues with my 14-year participation on the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality Council, and our parks as a member of the Lincoln Parks Foundation.
As I’ve gone door-to-door throughout our city listening to citizens, they are telling me we need more transparency in city government. People want, and should have, more knowledge about how our city works and how decisions are made.
I oppose the taxes our current City Council has raised and implemented on Lincoln taxpayers and I think our city government should set priorities and tighten its belt like Lincoln families have had to do in recent years.
One of the highest priorities should be improving our streets in all neighborhoods. Potholes and deteriorated streets damage our cars and put another financial burden on citizens and businesses. Efficiencies in government need to be another priority so we can save taxpayer dollars to address Lincoln’s real needs.
