Frank Lloyd Wright was responsible for luring me to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, a six-hour drive from Lincoln. The city is the location of Price Tower, which at 19 stories is one of only two vertical buildings the renowned architect designed.

Phillips Petroleum Company Museum
This museum (now Conoco-Phillips) chronicles the history of the firm founded by brothers L.E. and Frank Phillips in 1905. Free admission.
Frank Phillips Home
The 26-room Greek revival mansion features all the original furnishings of one of the world’s greatest oil baron families, and includes 10-karat gold bathroom fixtures.
Woolaroc
This 3,700-acre ranch retreat was built for Frank Phillips in 1925. The name originated from the words “woods, lakes and rocks” that make up the surrounding Osage Hills.
The on-site Woolaroc Museum includes some of the Southwest’s greatest collections of Western art, and one of the most complete collections of Colt Paterson firearms.
Prairie Song Pioneer Village
Life on the frontier in the late 1880s era has been recreated at this pioneer village museum.
Tom Mix Museum
The first "King of the Cowboys” (1880-1940) was the original “good guy in the white hat.” He appeared in over 320 silent Western movies, and was the first Western megastar.

Frank Lloyd Wright in McCook (4 hours west of Lincoln)
Wright designed one building in Nebraska. The classic prairie-style home is a six-bedroom, 4,000-square-foot residence. Designed by Wright in 1905-07, it was constructed in 1907-08. Although for a period it was used as medical offices, today it has been restored to a private residence in keeping with its original design. It is not open to the public.
