The town of Samaná, a relatively small town on the northeastern coast of the Dominican Republic, is seen from across the bay.

The young women say that even though sex work is not technically illegal, there is still a stigma attached it and that some people in their neighborhood often look down on them, while others understand that they do what they must to feed their children.
