York, of Clarinda, Iowa, came to the hospital in August for heart valve replacement surgery, but suffered complications from a failing heart. In all, she spent 143 days in the hospital. More than 35 doctors, nurses, therapists and technicians gathered at Bryan Medical Center east campus on Feb. 13 to say hello to former patient JoAnn York. The Clarinda, Iowa, woman was hospitalized for 143 days after her malfunctioning heart led to failure of nearly all of her other organs. Standing behind York is her husband, Mike. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the hospital on Nov. 26.
