OMAHA — Phil Schrager stepped quickly up to the canvas, pointing out chemical formulas embedded in the Matthew Ritchie painting. A college professor had informed him that the formulas were nonsense, but that didn’t matter to art collector Schrager. The formulas, he says, are part of the language of Ritchie’s art.
