The most mouth-watering bakeries in Lincoln

1. Le Quartier

1. Le Quartier Bakery & Cafe, 6900 O St. -- Since 2006, John and Seth Quiring have been providing delicious breads, pastries, pizza crusts and more to thankful Lincoln diners and shoppers.

Their artisan breads feature crispy crusts, airy crumbs and tremendous flavor. I’m partial to those with cheese, especially blue cheese, baked into them. And their croissants are so light and airy, it’s hard to believe they have any calories.

The Quirings also bake one of my favorite cinnamon rolls in town. My wife and I like to end our bike rides -- the store is just off the MoPac Trail -- with one.

3. Goldenrod Pastries, 3947 S. 48th St. -- Angela Garbacz is a newcomer to Lincoln’s bakery scene and already has made quite an impact, thanks in part to offering baked goods to patrons with specialty diets. Her macaroons are a must-try.
