The last honor flight

* 652 Vietnam veterans from 175 Nebraska communities will take a free, daylong trip to Washington on May 1.

* 55 are Purple Heart recipients, 10 received the Distinguished Flying Cross.

* 242 have been diagnosed with complications from Agent Orange.

* 1 is a woman, a former Army nurse.

* 51 support guardians will accompany them.

* Destinations include the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall, Arlington National Cemetery, and the World War II, Iwo Jima, Korean War and Air Force memorials.

* Each of the four jets cost about $87,000 to charter, and are sponsored by Pinnacle Bank, Sandhills Publishing, Norfolk Iron and Metal, and the Harper Family Foundation.

* Patriotic Productions, operated by Bill and Evonne Williams of Omaha, have taken 2,600 veterans (from World War II, Korean and Vietnam wars) and 10 flights to Washington since 2008.
