A 22-year-old Lincoln man got two years in prison Wednesday for providing the shotgun used in an attempted robbery in 2015 that ended up being a precursor to a Plattsmouth teen’s killing.

Richard “Ricky" Randall Jr., 19, was shot in the back and died inside a home at 321 S. 48th St. early Nov. 29, 2015, after Brandon Benson fired shots into it from the front lawn.

In November, Lancaster County District Judge Jodi Nelson sentenced Benson to 70 years to life for the killing, and sentenced his cousin Joseph Bratt to 10 to 15 years for an attempted robbery about three hours before the fatal shooting.

On Wednesday, Nelson sentenced Joshua Lock to two years in prison, plus a year of post-release supervision, for being an accessory to the robbery attempt. He had pleaded no contest.

Prosecutors said Lock provided the shotgun that Benson used to try to rob people at the 48th Street house who were looking to buy a quarter pound of marijuana for $680.

The would-be victims ran inside before being robbed, but one recognized Benson's voice, which led to an exchange of Facebook messages and threats.

A little after 3 that morning, Benson went back to the house with a 9mm gun and opened fire.

Lincoln police officers arrived to find Randall dead and 18-year-old Angok Wal of Bellevue wounded.
