Van Dorn Park, 28 acres tucked into a corner of a busy intersection in southwest Lincoln, surrounded by railroad tracks on one side, an industrial area on the other and neglected for years, is having a renaissance of sorts.

The city wants to create a master plan for Van Dorn Park, one of the oldest parks in the city with particular challenges because of it is bordered by highly traveled Nebraska Parkway.

The Van Dorn Park shelter is one of just three covered shelters in city parks. The city is developing a master plan for the park, one of the oldest in the city.

The success of the volunteer-built mountain bike trail at Van Dorn Park resulted in a master plan for a series of trails across the city.

The Van Dorn Park shelter is one of just three covered shelters in city parks. The city is developing a master plan for the park, one of the oldest in the city.
