Vera and Jim Tetherow have lived in Gaslight Village for more than 30 years, the last 20 in a 1,500-square-foot mobile home that has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a laundry room, formal dining room and a closet “that is bigger than some apartments I lived in,” Jim said. The big selling point, he said, was a Jacuzzi in the master bathroom.

Recommendations from the research
Allison Formanack has three broad recommendations based on her research into mobile home living in Lincoln.
* The state or the city needs to require safe rooms for residents during severe weather.
* The state and city need to enforce existing regulations and follow up on complaints to help assure that mobile home parks are maintained and to prove to mobile home residents that they are not considered second-class citizens.
* The city should look at the long-term role mobile homes could play in providing affordable housing.
