The Hotel Flatiron in downtown Omaha is shown here in the early part of the 20th century. The filling station in the foreground is long gone, but the building, without its rooftop sign, looks much the same today in the triangle formed by 17th, 18th and St. Mary’s Avenue. Sadly the Flatiron Café, which was in the rounded end at the left, closed during the pandemic.

Jalapa was established in 1859 as an assembly point for soldiers during the Pawnee War. The town would soon disappear, leaving only this monument to mark the town's heritage.
