The school has a two-lane bowling alley sandwiched between bookshelves filled with books written in Braille.

Part of the he Nebraska Center for the Education of Children who are Blind or Visually Impaired's original building still stands on the campus. It once housed a gym on the second floor but is now used for storage.

The Nebraska Center for the Education of Children who are Blind or Visually Impaired will celebrate its 140th anniversary Wednesday. The Nebraska City-based school serves about 800 students statewide.
