Enhanced entrance: Locally made markers beautify Lincoln

Want to see the district markers yourself? Clockwise from the large photo at the upper right, the large Lincoln markers flank the Lincoln Airport exit. The train marker can be found at Ninth and S streets on the edge of the Haymarket. The markers with ears of corn line the western edge of Cornhusker Highway. The meadowlark marker is perched near the corner of Northwest 12th and West Adams streets on the road to the airport, with the airplane marker a little farther down West Adams just before the terminal. A smaller version of the marker, featuring both the bird and the plane, can be found inside the airport near the baggage claim area.

Beautifying Cornhusker Highway, from the Lincoln Airport east to downtown, became a priority for Mayor Chris Beutler and other Lincoln officials. Inspired by similar works completed near the Omaha Eppley Airfield, the city wanted to make Lincoln’s entrance full of impact.
