Mary Love Obituary
Mary Love
October 11, 2026
Mary Anne (O'Hare) Love, 81, of Lincoln, NE, passed away on October 11, 2026 at home with her husband Jim by her side. Born in 1945 in Columbus, NE, she grew up on a farm in Schuyler, NE, with her parents Ray and Rita O'Hare, and siblings, Tom, Rich and Jeannette. After graduating high school in 1963, she moved to Lincoln for nurses training at the St. Elizabeth School of Nurses Training and graduated in 1966. She married Jim Love on January 14, 1967. Early on, Mary worked as a nurse as they moved to Tacoma, WA when Jim was in the Army. After the Army they moved to Wayne, NE where Jim studied for mortuary school, and moved to San Francisco, CA while Jim attended mortuary school. Finally, they moved back to Lincoln where they settled and raised their 3 children. Mary continued her career as a Registered Nurse, working at 2 different hospitals. The highlight of her career was working for Dr. Greg Heidrick at Lincoln OBGYN.
Mary is survived by Jim, her husband of 59 years, son John (Julie) Love of Lincoln, NE, daughter Anne (Mark) Hauptman of Gretna, NE and son Jason (Terri) Love of Omaha, NE. Grandchildren include: Ella, Emily, Cate, Jake, Molly and Ben Love; Sidney, Charlie, Henry, and Betsy Hauptman; and Lauren and Jaxon Love; brother Rich (Ann) O'Hare and sister Jeanette O'Hare. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Rita O'Hare, brother Tom O'Hare, and grandson Liam.
Mary was a devoted Catholic whose faith was an essential part of her life. She was a kind, caring, humble, and generous woman who always put others before herself. Her family was the center of her world, and she was endlessly proud of her children, and later her grandchildren, who lovingly called her Nana. Mary was deeply loved by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her faith, her love, her strength, and her one-of-a-kind spirit will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She will be remembered always, missed beyond words, and never forgotten.
Visitation will Sunday 12-4pm at Butherus Maser & Love Funeral Home and family present from 6-7 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1940 South 77th Street followed by a Rosary at 7pm. Visitation with family present on Monday from 10 am to 11 am at church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 19, 2026 at 11am at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery at 2pm. Family asks for no flowers, Memorials to The Pink Sisters, Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach and St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Jim and family, so sorry to hear about Mary but glad she didn´t suffer. I sent her a message before our class reunion in September hoping she would come like she did last year, but never heard back from her. I wish I would have called instead. Mary was my best friend.
Sending you my sympathy and prayers. I loved Mary.

Our sympathy and prayers are with Mary Anne's family at this time. Our parents were very close friends with her parents - before we were born! They remained friends throughout the years. My brother, Galen Kehrli, was a pallbearer for her father's funeral. My name is Carolyn (Kehrli) Conner and God be with you.
