Nebraska families received some good news recently. Attorney General Mike Hilgers announced a $17.1 billion settlement with Meta, the largest Big Tech settlement in American history. One piece of it matters especially here at home. Instagram and Facebook will go dark for kids 17 and under between midnight and 6 a.m. According to Hilgers, Nebraska ranked second in the country for per capita use of those apps in those early morning hours, a number Hilgers rightly called shocking. Our kids have been up all night on these apps, and it took years of litigation to get one company to turn the lights off.
