They said it: “I don’t buy into any of that crap. All I’m concerned about is tomorrow,” Bo Pelini said to a reporter suggesting Nebraska was in the driver’s seat in the Legends Division race now. It was a fair answer to a bad question.

Twitter talk: “People ask me why I deleted my Twitter. It had nothing to do with negative messages,” John Papuchis said. “It had to do with the idea that I don’t want to ride the wave either. I don’t want all the pats on the back when things are good. And I don’t want to read all the negative stuff when they’re not. Because my job is to keep getting guys better each week. And that means staying focused on the task at hand, and all the outside opinions, whether they’re worthy or not, can’t be my chief concern.”

Feel-good story of the night: Gotta be Sean Fisher. The Husker senior linebacker has had to be patient while not playing a whole lot and has taken his share of grief from critics for some of his play last year, when he wasn’t totally healthy. Well, he was healthy Saturday night. And the Millard North grad played a heckuva game. Seven tackles. Two for loss. Good stuff.

To decline or not to decline: I didn’t envy Pelini’s decision when Nebraska stopped Michigan on a third-and-6 at the Husker 35-yard line in the second quarter. There was also a holding call on the Wolverines. So, do you back them up 10 yards out of field-goal range and give them another third-down shot? Or decline and see if they can hit a 52-yard field goal? Pelini declined the penalty. Michigan made the kick. I might have pushed them back. But then, I’m up in the press box and don’t have to defend Denard Robinson on third down.

A guy you wouldn’t expect to think about Saturday night but did: Joe Bauserman. Yeah, I know I wasn't the only one. You were thinking of him, too, after a few of those Bellomy ducks.

Robinson leaves game: Late in the first half, Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson injured his throwing hand on a running play and left the game. He did not return.

Huskers' big stand: Late in the third quarter, Michigan drove deep into Husker territory — aided by 45 yards in penalties — but Sean Fisher made a tackle for loss on third down to force a field goal.

The TD that ices it: Taylor Martinez broke a 29-yard run to set up a touchdown in the fourth quarter for a 23-9 Nebraska lead.
