OK, Nebraska survives Wake Forest and the heat in a 20-17 win on Saturday. Stories will be coming soon, but in the meantime, here are some postgame quotes. "We wanted to have more success with the run game but there's a big difference between Nevada and the ACC champions," said offensive lineman Carl Nicks. Last week, the Huskers had 413 yards rushing against Nevada. Against Wake, NU had 115 yards on the ground. Husker offensive coordinator Shawn Watson was asked about the Huskers going for it on fourth-and-two at Wake's 35 in the final two minutes. The Huskers got no gain on the play. "We felt like if the ball would have got touched back, it's coming out to the 20," Watson said. "So you go for it and try to eat some more time off the clock. That's just good, sound decision-making right there." What'd Watson think of quarterback Sam Keller's performance? "Sam had some really good spots," Watson said. "He and I talked after the game, the beautiful thing about Sam is Sam's eager to improve. He knows that he needs to keep developing, keep working in our offense. He's still managing a very good football game. "He had the one turnover. I think Nate (Swift) slipped on him coming out of his break. Kid made a heckuva play on the ball. Then had a turnover in the pocket. Pocket collapsed, ball came out. He's got to hang on it. Overall, other than that, though, he played a pretty good ballgame." Keller, who was 24-for-41 with one touchdown, two interceptions and one fumble, said he thought he played a better game than last week. "I felt more comfortable, felt like I made some good throws," Keller said. "It's definitely a better defense. They were a tough, tough defense, one of the more tough defenses the way they played today, than I've ever faced. It's a good win. I feel good." Concerning his fourth-quarter interception, the play where the pocket collapsed and he tried to get rid of the ball while being hit, Keller said: "It was a situation where we had a 1-2 and a swing to Marlon, and they had every single one of those guys covered.I was in the midst of pumping to get the ball out, and then just got hit in the back. It was unfortunate. In that case I should tuck it and just eat it, but I was trying to get it out to Marlon and every play... See, that's what I'm talking about with their defense. Sometimes they were just on the screws and really came after us." Running back Marlon Lucky ended the day with 90 yards rushing on 24 carries. "We started slow," Lucky said. "That first quarter, that wasn't us. That wasn't Nebraska football."
