Basketball bonanza

The Nebraska men's and women's basketball teams are both expected to be selected Sunday for the NCAA basketball tournament. The Nebraska men, who are predicted to be anywhere from an eight seed to a 10 seed, will be in the tournament for the first time since 2014 when they hear their name called during the men's selection show at 5 p.m. on CBS. It will be the second bid in the past three years for the Nebraska women's team, which is hosting a public watch party at Pinnacle Bank Arena for the women's selection show, which airs at 7 p.m. on ESPN. Admission to the event is free, and doors open at 6 p.m.

Drone Lincoln NCAA Tournament

The University of Nebraska has put in a bid to host the first and second rounds of the men’s NCAA basketball tournament in 2027 or 2028 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

This drone shot of downtown Lincoln and the Haymarket shows the site of the former Lincoln Journal Star production building, which will be the location of a 252-room Drury Plaza hotel. Also shown in this shot are the Embassy Suites and the Graduate Lincoln hotel, two other full-service downtown hotels, as well as the Hilton Garden Inn and Courtyard By Marriott. 

Fans pack Pinnacle Bank Arena on March 3 for the Nebraska men's final home game of the season against Rutgers. If the university's bid is successful, fans could pack the arena in three or four years to watch first- and second-round NCAA tournament games.
