Who to watch

Rice. He missed Illinois' first game against Nebraska because of injury, and is coming off a 19-point, seven-rebound performance in a rout of Northwestern.

Three things to watch

* Can Nebraska avoid the goose egg in conference road games? The Huskers enter the game 0-8 on the road in the Big Ten, and a loss would give them their sixth winless conference road record in 31 years, and their first since 2009-10. Nebraska is 0-3 at Illinois since joining the Big Ten, and 0-4 all time at the State Farm Center, formerly known as Assembly Hall.

* Can Nebraska play better defense, and do so while keeping Illinois off the free-throw line? Illinois leads the nation in free-throw percentage, at 79.6 percent, and in conference games is shooting 81.6 percent. Illinois has shot better than its season average in 10 of its last 14 games.

* What's Nebraska mindset following a bye week and two blowout losses? Aside from a slim chance of avoiding a Big Ten Tournament play-in game, there's really no carrot to dangle in front of the Huskers, who will stay home for the postseason unless they win the tournament. Will they wilt against an Illinois team that's shooting 40 percent on threes at home, or finally bow up?
