Huskers finally have a soccer home

South Dakota State vs. Nebraska, soccer exhibition, 8.12.15

For the first time, the Nebraska soccer team got the chance to play under home-field lights during Wednesday's exhibition against South Dakota State. The soccer and tennis programs each are getting settled into new facilities.

NU Soccer And Tennis Complex Tour

The new Barbara Hibner Field at Hibner Stadium, located north of the Devaney Sports Center near the corner of North 14 Street and Cornhusker Highway, features a full-sized competition field with lights and seating for about 2,500 people.

The soccer team's new locker room features personalized lighted panels for each player in the new Hibner Stadium, located north of the Devaney Center near the corner of N. 14 Street and Cornhusker Highway.

The new Hibner Stadium and Barbara Hibner Field features a full-sized competition field with lights and seating for about 2,500 people.

The tennis team's new locker room features personalized lighted panels and a combination locker for each player in the new Dillon Tennis Complex, located north of the Devaney Center near the corner of N. 14 Street and Cornhusker Highway.

In 2005, the Nebraska soccer team moved from the Abbott Sports Complex to the Nebraska Soccer Field on campus. The 3,500-seat venue located between the NU Coliseum and Memorial Stadium was home to NCAA Tournament games and where the Huskers won the 2013 Big Ten regular-season championship.

Naming the facilities

Hibner Stadium: Named after Barbara Hibner, who served Nebraska for nearly three decades as the women's director of athletics and senior woman administrator.

Dillon Tennis Complex: Named after Sid and Hazel Dillon, who provided a private donation to help pay for the facility.

The two venues will be officially dedicated Sept. 25 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The soccer team plays Penn State that evening.
