When Nebraska volleyball moved to a larger arena, it allowed the program to continue to grow to historic levels and change how the state — and also the rest of the country — looked at what a college volleyball program can do off the court. Three years later, Nebraska leads the nation in attendance, averaging an NCAA-record 8,206 fans per match last season, far ahead of No. 2 Hawaii (6,905).

Volleyball in the black
At many NCAA Division I athletic departments football and men’s basketball are the only programs that generate a profit for the athletic department, but that’s not the case at Nebraska, where a move to a larger arena has allowed the volleyball program to pay its expenses through ticket revenue.
