Rachel Theriot. While Jessica Shepard got a lot of attention during the preseason, Theriot quietly averaged 23.5 points, 5.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game during two exhibition games.

* Here we go, the college career of Jessica Shepard officially begins on Saturday. She averaged 35.5 points in two exhibition games. This seems like a good time to let you know that the school record for most points in a regulation game by a freshman is 31. Start a contest in your section at the game today to guess when that record is broken. I’d pick a date in November.
* Yes, Nebraska has good young players in the program. But don’t forget the Huskers lost a senior class that accounted for 62 percent of the Huskers’ scoring last season and 66 percent of the rebounds. You’ll notice that experience missing at some point.
* Connie Yori knew the Huskers would be young this year and the schedule to start the season reflects that. None of Nebraska's first three opponents had a winning record last season. Arkansas Pine Bluff had a 7-22 record last season and lost 10 letterwinners. They only have one player taller than 6-foot-1.
