Tim Youd retypes Willa Cather’s “The Song of the Lark” on the Cather Memorial Prairie south of Red Cloud. The Los Angeles artist is retyping three Cather novels in Nebraska as part of his 100 Novels Project — an art project that will take nearly two decades to complete. For much of May you can see Youd retyping “O’ Pioneers” in Omaha’s Old Market.

Tim Youd retypes Willa Cather’s “The Song of the Lark” on the Cather Memorial Prairie south of Red Cloud. The Los Angeles artist is retyping three Cather novels in Nebraska as part of his 100 Novels Project — an art project that will take nearly two decades to complete. For much of May you can see Youd retyping “O’ Pioneers” in Omaha’s Old Market.

Tim Youd is retyping all three Cather novels in Nebraska using an Oliver Model 3 typewriter. Cather experts believe that this is the typewriter the famed Nebraska novelists used to write most of her novels.
